Clover, South Carolina
On December 24, 1887, the town of Clover, located in York County, S.C. was chartered. Small houses were built around a 5,000 gallon water tank. Steam engines of the Chester and Lenoir Railroad Narrow Gauge Railroad were supplied by this water tank. Even today, the textile industry still impacts Clover’s economy greatly.
The town sponsors annual events such as: an Easter egg hunt, pumpkin carving and costume contest, Mayor’s ride and bike rodeo and summer movies in the park. All of which are free of charge and a chance to enjoy friends and family.
A really unique aspect of Clover is they have a Sister City in Northern Ireland called Larne. There’s a rich heritage throughout the town, which can be seen through the street stores, country side and everything
in between. The Town of Clover Ulster American Society (UAS) is accountable for developing the goals of the Sister Cities Agreement between the two cities and keeping the relations ongoing.
The small southern town is perfect for those who do not want to live directly in a city. But if you don’t want to be too far away from city attractions, Rock Hill, about a half an hour away, is the largest city that’s closest to Clover. Some events that happen annually are: Summerfest, Old Town Zombie Crawl, SC Strawberry Festival, Christmasville in Rock Hill and much more!
About 45 minutes away is the famous hometown of the Carolina Panthers. Charlotte has major attractions including: Bank of America Stadium, Time Warner Cable Arena, SouthPark Mall, Carowinds and much more! Whether you want to enjoy a nice evening around your home or explore the cities of Rock Hill or Charlotte, Clover gives you the opportunity to do both.
